The Red Devils Set to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Major Signing for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a major coup for the WSL side.
Her exit from Munich has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the club's fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top strikers. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost the Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven straight seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club seem to be gathering momentum.
Recent performances include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
The new defender, having joined from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
