Plane Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Crack in Windshield
A jet ferrying the US defense secretary was compelled to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the plane's windshield, according to an official announcement which stated that Hegseth was safe.
"The aircraft touched down in accordance with established safety measures and everyone onboard, including Pete Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a public statement.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the Belgian capital at the time.
This occurrence does not mark the first occasion that a American defense plane transporting a senior official has encountered technical problems.
Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was required to turn back to Washington after encountering a mechanical fault.
